This policy applies to SPREP’s own data as well as data held by SPREP on behalf of government agencies and partners within the Pacific.
The purpose of this policy is to:
• encourage the free exchange of data with other government agencies and partners within the Pacific and with the public in the Pacific and beyond
• promote the benefits of data sharing, and its links to good governance, accountability, public participation and the rule of law

The handbook is a joint publication of Environment Canada and the University of Joensuu – United Nations Environment Programme Course on International Environmental Law-making and Diplomacy. Environment Canada initiated this project and provided core contributions for the main text. UNEP generously provided the glossary, as well as expert advice on the handbook as a whole.

In the Federated States of Micronesia (FSM), communities in the inhabited atolls and islands of Yap State are often at risk of experiencing drought, as well as sudden-onset disasters including earthquakes, flooding, tsunamis, and typhoons.

With support from USAID’s Office of U.S. Foreign Disaster Assistance (USAID/OFDA), Catholic Relief Services (CRS) and the College of Micronesia–FSM established the “Adaptive Community Transformation (ACT) on Yap” project to strengthen community resilience to natural disasters.

Weno, Chuuk FSM - on April 22, 2020 Tuesday, Chuuk EPA staff (Solid & Hazardous Waste Manager and Environmental Educator) with collaboration of (8) eight volunteers from Kuchua, Dublon and Tunnuk, Udot, along with two Chuuk Department of Transportation and Public Works staff and security measure by 2 Police Officers from the Chuuk State Department of Public Safety gathered together at the Downtown Marina Shoreline and collected scattered trash of all kinds as an activity for the Earth Day. Another Joint Force from Chuuk EPA and Department of Public Works starting to collect junk cars scattered beside the main and secondary road on Weno Island. Removal of junk cars are those abandoned vehicles lying within the 38 feet right of way easment of a public (main) and secondary road. 48th World Environmentment Day, The activities this year were collection of used cars from Tafunsak, Coastal cleanup, radio announcent, promotional tshirt and Q & A program.

A public awareness on waste management was conducted on Oneisomw for 4 days.  Concepts of 3Rs, Segregation of waste,  proper waste disposal, and etc. were discussed among islanders

A waste survey was conducted by EPA staff with the collaboration of Oneisom Resource Management Committee (ORMC) and island community members for a period of 5 days from  August 16-20, 2021 for 30 selected households.
