In this report, a set of recommendations is provided for each indicator to support the next best steps for management action that will advance progress towards the target outcome and support Pacific people and biodiversity.

The 43rd edition, the Key Indicators for Asia and the Pacific 2012 (Key Indicators 2012) continues to provide a set of comprehensive social, economic, financial, environmental, and Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) indicator series for the 48 regional members. The Key Indicators provides a timely and reliable source of data and information for policy makers, development practitioners, government officials, researchers, students, and the general public. For the second year, the Framework of Inclusive Growth Indicators supplements the main Key Indicators publication.
The increased demand for high quality products in export markets, coupled with Pacific Island Countries (PICs) national desire to protect the environment, biodiversity and family farming structures, lead to assume that organic agriculture could offer good prospects for PICs development. Besides market opportunities, organic agriculture could increase PICs food self-reliance and thus, contribute to reducing the alarming trend of dependency on food imports, as well as improving nutrition.
These guidelines detail the process, timeline, and steps taken to complete a State of Environment Report.
This is a template that can be used when creating a State of Environment report, and sections can be added or adapted to fit a country’s needs.
This new set of 60 indicator icons can be used in a State of Environment report to indicate the status of environmental issues and progress in a country.
SPREPs recommended template for individual indicators in national SoE reports. The full SoE template will be updated in the coming months.
This policy applies to SPREP’s own data as well as data held by SPREP on behalf of government agencies and partners within the Pacific.
The purpose of this policy is to:
• encourage the free exchange of data with other government agencies and partners within the Pacific and with the public in the Pacific and beyond
• promote the benefits of data sharing, and its links to good governance, accountability, public participation and the rule of law
The handbook is a joint publication of Environment Canada and the University of Joensuu – United Nations Environment Programme Course on International Environmental Law-making and Diplomacy. State of Environment (SoE) reports provide in-country partners with a process to gather data on current environmental indicators, document their status, and formulate a plan for keeping these indicators on track or developing policies and programs as needed. This SoE Toolkit dataset contains resources that serve as guides to help create up-to-date State of Environment reports.
