The Digital Atlas of Micronesia is the foremost source of maps and geospatial information for the Federated States of Micronesia. This report reviews environmental law in the Federated States of Micronesia, including recommendations for changes to aspects of the law. The focus of this review is upon environmental law at the national level in FSM, although section 5 includes information on Pohnpei State environmental law.
As part of the preparation of the Pacific Region Environmental Strategy (PRES) the Asian Development Bank (ADB) has funded a field study in Yap State. The objectives of the study are to evaluate:
1) how traditional systems have played a role in natural resource management and in development
2) how traditional systems could be productively integrated with contemporary approaches to resource management
3) how public-private partnerships have been employed in the development of tourism destinations in a Pacific island nation and could be employed in future development.
Under the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD) - member countries are implementing the PoWPA. This is FSM's Action Plan for PoWPA and Target 11. Target 11 is a contribution towards ensuring that ecosystems, species and genetic diversity are safeguarded in both the land and seascape by ensuring that key habitats are protected and that species migration and movement can occur. Protected areas are a cornerstone of 5 conservation actions and as such are one of the main tools at a country’s disposal to reduce habitat loss.
This is a continuation of the survey of islands in Micronesia for invasive plant species requested by the Pacific Islands Committee, Council of Western State Foresters in the year 2000. Information herein are valid for reporting and reference.
The objectives, as with the previous survey, were three-fold:
(1) To identify plant species on the islands that are presently causing problems to natural and semi-natural ecosystems;
A project technical report of the International Water project - the objectives are to prepare and conduct an ecological baseline survey of the nearshore reef fisheries at proposed MPA sites in each of four IWP communities in Yap and prepare a monitoring plan and support the involvement of the community in baseline assessment and monitoring work.

This Feasibility Study was undertaken by the Pacific Invasives Initiative (PII). The study was undertaken to determine the feasibility of managing invasive plant species suspected of threatening an area of lowland native forest on Kosrae island, Federated States of Micronesia. A proposed protection area within the forest has high biodiversity, water supply and cultural values.
The collection, collation and review of data on the management of healthcare waste and best-practice options for its disposal in FSM under the PacWaste project. Information regarding the waste management process occurring, from ward-level waste generation through to ultimate treatment and disposal was collected during audits of the four largest hospitals:

• Chuuk State Hospital, Chuuk
• Pohnpei State Hospital, Pohnpei

This new State Solid Waste Management Strategy (SSWMS) is formulated with the aim of enabling Chuuk State to establish a technically sound and financially sustainable solid waste management (SWM) system. To do so, this SSWMS consists of not only of strategic elements, but also a mid‐term action plan of the first five years with technical, institutional and financially appropriate options, which will lead to implementation of the SSWMS .

Using the 3 sea level rise projection scenarios of 2030, 2055 & 2090 in a geospatial modeling analysis, the vegetation and land cover classes vulnerabilities due increase of sea level were assessed and reported, for the 4 states of the FSM. Only the main islands of the 4 states were assessed due to missing DEM of the outer islands.
