Objective
As part of the FSM GCF Food Security Project, an important output we aim to implement is to develop a effective communication tool that caters specifically to the farming households of the FSM. We aim to create a communication network that will ensure information reaches every household in the FSM through various communication channels.
Climate Smart Agriculture (CSA)
According to FAO (https://www.fao.org/climate-smart-agriculture/en/?1410873933=): “Climate-smart agriculture (CSA) is an approach that helps guide actions to transform agri-food systems towards green and climate resilient practices. CSA supports reaching internationally agreed goals such as the SDGs and the Paris Agreement. It aims to tackle three main objectives: sustainably increasing agricultural productivity and incomes; adapting and building resilience to climate change; and reducing and/or removing greenhouse gas emissions, where possible.”
Climate-resilient agriculture (CRA) has been described as “an approach that includes sustainably using existing natural resources through crop and livestock production systems to achieve long- term higher productivity and farm incomes under climate variabilities” (https://www.downtoearth.org.in/blog/agriculture/climate-resilient-agriculture-systems-the- way-ahead-75385).
Weather and Climate Change
Climate change describes a change in the typical weather for a region — such as high and low temperatures and amount of rainfall — over a long period of time. Scientists have observed that, overall, Earth is warming. In fact, many of the warmest years on record have happened in the past 20 years. This rise in global temperature is sometimes called global warming.

What is the difference between weather and climate?
The main difference is time. Weather is only temporary. For example, a Tropical storms can turn into a flood after just a few warm spring days. Climate, on the other hand, is more than just a few warm or cool days. Climate describes the typical weather conditions in an entire region for a very long time – 30 years or more.
