On February 14th, 2022, His Excellency David W Panuelo, President of the Federated States of Micronesia (FSM), signed Congressional Act 22-79, which has since become Public Law 22-81, which appropriates the sum of $100,000 from the General Fund of the FSM for the purpose of funding relief efforts in the Kingdom of Tonga due to the eruption of the Hunga-Tonga-Hunga-Ha’apai volcano and subsequent tsunami.
“In my capacity as President of the FSM,” President Panuelo said in a statement, “I would like to first extend my sincerest appreciation to the Honorable Wesley W. Simina, Speaker of the FSM Congress, for Congress’ continued leadership. It is a blessing to know that each and every one of my colleagues in our National Congress are committed and devoted to public service, and committed to doing the right thing.”
