Kosrae Shoreline Management Plan

This plan highlighted the five key principles for successful adaptation and reduction of present and future coastal hazard risks to Kosrae communities and infrastructure over the next few generations;

1) continued careful management of the natural environment and resources is fundamental for protection from coastal hazards and long term adaption.
2) a primary focus on where to build.
3) a focus on how to build.
4) a recognition that in more situations a reliance on impact reduction measures including coastal defences are not a long term option for a resilient infrastructure and communities.
5) effective adaptation needs to start imminently.
